  • [Behavior] Do RTBs like water?

I was under the impression that RTBs loved soaking in water but my six year old, Jewel seems to have a distinct dislike for being in water. She has never lain in here water in cage whether warm or cold. Whenever I take her out and put her in a bath full of water she moves like lightening to get out. It is the only time she moves with speed Is this normal?

Boas will go in water, but on their own terms. I imagine you're not overly fond of being tossed in to a pool either, right?

Her behavior is very 'normal'....the key is that you "put her in a bath full of water". I think much of their issue has to do with not finding the traction when they don't enter on their own...or as Pandorasdad said, it's
much like when we are tossed into a swimming pool. They don't like a loss of control any more than we do.

I agree with the other 2 responses. Maybe you should try and buy a reasonable size plastic tub, fill with water of the appropriate temp but only enough where her belly still touches the bottom of the tub.
My female '14 Albino-Motley (Luna) "LOVES
" water. And I can't emphasized that enough. Rarely do I ever catch her inside her water bowl in her enclosure but when it's family and fun time, once I introduce her to her plastic pool, she's all for it. She swims underwater for a min then soaks for about an hour until the water temps drops, then she's off to exploring my room. My '14 Salmon-Jungle male on the other hand can care less for a swim unless he's in a shed.

My girl is not fond of water herself. I never see her in her water bowl and she hates baths. However, I think she does enjoy cuddling in a warm towel when she is done soaking.

Tammy, I notice that you keep your snake on newspaper. Very convenient for you, of course, and perfectly acceptable for the snake too! Win win.
