Which side is the best side to put the hide, Warm or cool side?

If I had to choose id put it in the warm side. But one on each side is better.

A retreat from the heat and a retreat from the cold. one on each side. 2 hides.

I agree - one on each side . But if you only have one , then put it in the middle , in between the hot and cold side.

I put it on the cold side because I don't want them to bask just to hide...

The only snake I have with more than one hide is my corn snake because he is so small I have the room to do it. He has 3 hides but uses only one really. Sometimes he will use his half log, but mostly he sticks to his reptile basic hide, sometimes I see him go through his toilet paper roll hide but not often! (hey it works well for him he is small)

Even if you have to fashion another hide on the coolside out of leaves and bark and trees or even something cheap like tupperware, I heavily suggest a hide on each side. It will make for a less stressed snake.
