  • [Frozen/Thawed] f/t

I just defrosted a mice and it looks kind swollen is it ok to feed my boa that mice

The swell could be gases from the stomach or something. If it looks really fishy you could just thaw out a new one, but you're probably ok.

How did you defrost the mouse? If you used hot water that can cause them to swell and sometimes break open when the snake constricts it. If you use cold water you won't have that problem.

If it's swelling when you defrost, I'd worry that it is either rotten or defrosted too fast. Like bterrill said, it's probably gasses built up in the animal, but those gasses come as a by-product of decomposition.

Was the prey animal de-frosted and re-frozen?

When it comes to the food I feed my snakes I follow a simple rule. When in doubt, toss it out.
