  • [Feeding-General] 10 month old size and feeder size

Ok, got a question for you guys who have bred boas and seen lots of babies. I recently picked up a 11 month old(born May '14) sunglow female. She is about 20" or so and was being fed rat pups every 2 weeks. My first question is does 20"ish sound about right for a 11 month old? I know they vary in size and growth but on average does this sound about right? Second question is a rat pup up where I am from seems really huge for her. I kind of figured out that a small adult mouse seems to put a noticeable lump on her but not something huge. I have been feeding her every 7 days. I figure I would do this until she hits about 1.5 years old and then back her off to every 2 weeks. Does this sound about right? Thanks.

Everything seems about right. My 11 month olds are just now starting rat pups every 7-10 days.

Holy crap! There must be a HUGE varaity in sizes between clutches. I got my first clutch a month ago and two days ago i measured one of them. It was 26" and 107g (dont know how much that is in US weights).

I would drop her down one size if the lump seems huge. When I got mine at 9 months she was on rat pups every week and they left a huge lump in her. After eating she would just lay there motionless for a while then go into her warm hide for 36-48 hours and digest it. She was fine but after a couple feedings I decided to drop down one size. In the 14 months that I have had her she has been fed 3-4 times a month with a rat that is maybe one size smaller than she could really take and she still grew 2 ft and gained a ton of weight.

I guess they must vary. We got ours to stretch out along the base board and got a measurement of 31" at 5 months and pushing 285g. I have been offerering a small adult mouse every 7 days and it leaves a barely noticeable lump, which had me concerned whether or not it is enough. I am new to this, so one of my questions is do the morphs grow to different sizes than the normal BCI's or BCC?

If the mouse leaves a barely noticeable lump in her than the mouse size should be about right. As for if the different morphs grow to a different size than a "normal" BCI or BCC- I would say no, although others here might disagree. The different morphs are bred for color and pattern not size.
