does it look kinda like bird poop? I have noticed twice in my cage that there has been a white substance with a little green mixed in. Is this urine and poop mixed or could there be a problem? He is acting and looking normal otherwise.

It's pee. Perfectly normal. I could be wrong but a boa absorbs as much water/liquids as it can leaving the uritrates (pee) in a solid form. Someone might correct me.

Beth is correct doesn't sound like need to worry. Baby boas poop and pee are sometimes about liquidy. That changes when they get a bit older. The poop starts to look like what the dog does, and the pee (urates) look like a chunk of chalk with some liquid..

And Beth is correct, the boas system is great at not wasting much liquid, that why their pee is a chunk of hard uraits..

Hey bro, get used to the different colored poop. lol I My dad saw some and was stuned to see two different colors. I told him that the brown was the flesh, fur and the white was the teeth, bones, nails, etc. He was amazed. Was I wrong steve? I was under the impression that the teeth and bones come out differently than the flesh and skin considering there makeup. 8) ;D

Actually, that's not quite correct. Snakes digestive systems are so "potent" that they can digest the teeth and bones! Really the only thing they don't digest well is fur, which makes up most of the "poop."

The white is simply Uric acid, the dehydrated version of urine. They reabsorb every little bit of water out of it that they can!

Hope this has been "educational." ;D

I agree with what Herper said for the most part. Depending on the boas normal intake of water will determin how big the uric chunks are. I have a few boas that drink alot of water and you can tell because the flood the cage out a couple times a month with a few small uric balls..

And last point. Herper is right that they digest it all except for the fur, but trust me the poop is alot more then hair. Its digested rat.. Tear gives a bigger return then my dog right now...

Not at all Jay.. It wouldn't be bad if it was in the middle of the cage, but she always picks a hard corner and lets it roll... ewww

Yea, she just wants to make it a challenge cleaning her enclosure out. LOL Too bad we can't train our boas to use the toilet, then I'de build her a mini one and plumb the cage for it. LOL

                        Re:baby boa poop

I was suprised to see liquid in the urine from my baby, as I have never had a baby snake before. With Spot, my 2 1/2 year old ball python, the urates have always been solid since I adopted him. But Sid just had his first tinkle since I got him, and there's quite a bit of liquid along with the solid urate. Good to hear this is normal.

I had that happen with the uric balls.. They become cement when they harded to wood..One case I had to use a big flathead screwdriver and a hammer to cip it free... O what fun..LOL
