  • [Defecation] No defication

Hey guys I have had my boa now for almost 5 weeks. Actually 5 weeks on Monday. He was what I estimate about a month old when I got him. He has not defacated at all. He has eaten 6 times. A couple of weeks ago there was a bit of urate deposit, but thats it. Is it normal for a baby boa to go so long while feeding every 5 days? His enclosure is at about 90 on the hot side and 80 or so on the cool side with between 50-60% humidy. I also tried a warm bath and nothing. Also if it has any bearing on the situation he had mites when I got him, which took about two weeks for me to completely irradicate. So he may have been malnourished a bit. Thanks.

    Re: No defication

That is a bit long in my experience, but the fact that he was malnourished may be why. You might want to have him checked for internal parasites, and if he's negative, just chalk it up to having a lot of room to fill up before he needs to poop.

What are you feeding him and what size?

He's eating hopper mice as I can;t get the right size rats for him locally.

If you're in a position to order a bag or two of frozen rats, I'd do that.

In the mean time, keep the hoppers coming.

I was having the same problem with mine. Usually I just put him in the bath tub with warm water and let nature take is course.
