  • Re: water dish

do you mean that your boa is in the water bowl alot. if that is the case there could be a few reasons for this. 1st your snake may be going into shed. snakes will frequently soak themselves to help soften up the old skin they are about to shed. 2nd the temps in your cage may be too warm. the snake may be soaking itself in an attempt to cool off. 3rd your snake may have mites and by soaking itself, the snake is trying to get some relief. look for the presence of small dark moving spots on your snake and drown mites in the water bowl.

Or 4...your snake just loves soaking in the water. I have a couple boas that absolutely love soaking in the water dish. I spoke to my brother, who was the previous owner, and he said that ever since they were babies, they have been water babies. But what damian said is true two.

One of my Boa's just loves to soak in the water bowl. It has nothing to do with the environment, He just loves to soak. He also likes to balance around the edge of the bowl top. It's kinda funny when he moves, looses balance and falls in though! ;D He quickly pops back out and looks around like "what? I meant to do that" cwm20.gif My other boa just loves to be squirted with mist. he never soaks in the bowl, but will stick his head out immediately when I start misting his house! And when I stop, he starts cruising all over looking for more! So as long as everything else is o.k, it may just be a personality thing.
