  • Is this normal?? help please...

Well, i've been checking in on my son's boa every day just to see what he's been up to because you have to admit, they're fascinating little critters. I'm a little worried though, since for the last 3 days he's been in the exact same position, not moved at all, and his tongue isn't active. He sits in his little hide box and pokes his head out but that's about it. He's on the cool side, would that have anything to do with it? He was fed on the 17th but hasn't yet pooped. Is this inactivity normal?

Sounds like normal activity. The only time a Red Tail comes out much during the day is when they're hungry. Other than that, they typically sleep during the day. As previously said, they're primarily a nocturnal snake.

As for the pooping, snakes may only poop once or twice a month. That's because theire metabolism is so much slower than ours. But when they go, they make up for the lost time.

I would check out the temps in the cage...If it is too hot he might be just finding the coolest spot and staying there...that happened with mine...my thermostat broke and the temps skyrocketed..and i didn't realize it....when i fixed it she came out and was fired up and moving like she used to be...
