  • [Health-General] Help ASAP Please

I was hoping you could shed some light on a situation for me. I have a red tail boa that is having some issues. I have attached photos so you will understand what I am referring to. She has not eaten in about 2 months. She has become very easily scared and is now striking. The vet agrees that something is wrong; it is not a resp. infection. The vet suggested possible impaction but she pooped a couple days ago. The Dr also suggested it may be Inclusion Body Disease. Her back end is tightly wound and she will not unravel. The vet said this may not be the issue because she is still very strong. We are currently giving her pain meds and daily warm baths but she is not getting better. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had any x-rays taken? It looks like from those pics that she may have a few "knuckles" in her spine that may be causing discomfort.

It doesn't look like IBD to me but then again, I'm not a veterinarian. Is your vet a specific exotic vet that knows a lot about snakes? Not trying to be rude, it's just difficult to find a vet that is well versed in snakes.

So basically half of her body is curled up and she can't move it?

It looks like her spine may be kinked in the photos, or is that just the camera angle?

The sudden defensiveness and striking sounds like a pain reaction. How long have you had her?
