  • Surinames and Guyanas: No Difference

I just found this website. It describes pretty well that there is not a difference in Suriname red tails and Guyana red tails. Super interesting. Def have to read the letter from Lawrence van Sertima who was an exporter from Guyana. Here is the link, for some reason it says boa constrictor over and over. . .boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa

I don't think geographical location would have anything to do with it. Take the western diamondback rattle snake, it has a geographical location that spans from texas to california and down to mexico. That's a lot of ground to cover, not to mention the diversity of the terrain. With that said, the geographical location of the wdb is far greater than that of Guyana/Suriname. The "political border" they mentioned is like that of the borders between the states. It's very easy for a snake to cross that invisible line dividing the states/countries. Couldn't it be possible they are the same snake with minor differences in visual markings?? The wdb's also have some differences to them, but they are after all the same snake. Just a thought. . .

True, but it's like a snowflake. No one snowflake is like another.
With that being said there is a difference between Guyanas and Suris. they do have different scale counts as well. Just my .02 as I've seen alot of both.

They really are the same Boa possibly there are some visual characteristics
one group has more of or less than the other.
This has been a large debate among Locality people forever

Alot of people group them into Northern Shield Boa Constrictors which I believe will include
N.Brazilian boas as well and French Guiana ,Guyana also Surinam of course
