Re: The Truth about HSUS -Humane Society of the United States

    Unfortunately,
I've known the truth about the HSUS for many years. My mother "used" to work for the Humane Society. I've heard and seen things..... Scary things!!!

Endangered/Protected animals that "mysteriously" dissappeared, while in their care. Animals that were taken from "unfit" owners only to be sold/given away to even "MORE UNFIT" owners. Horses and other livestock that were "RESCUED" only to be slaughtered. BTW I'm talking "healthy" horses and livestock. Not those disease ridden sickly one. They get those sickly only healthy first, then they slaughter them. It's "their way" of showing the general public that they're "doing good". Of course, the general public only sees the "getting them healthy" part. They're not aware of the slaughter that happens afterwards.

It's scary that this organization is even allowed to exist!!!

What I find strange is a News station like Fox News who are extremely strongly
opinionated and against liberal & socialist type veiws.

Yet they will run those HSUS Donate to help the poor kitties and doggies
      comercials all night long

That really confuses me I would think FOX would be dead set against that HSUS organization !!

Re: The Truth about HSUS -Humane Society of the United States

Look Animal planet is been sucked in by the lies of HSUS.
Animal Planet is launching a quarterly series of investigative documentaries, beginning with a January special on dogfighting.

Cabler decided to create the "Animal Planet Investigates" banner following the success it had with "Animal Witness: The Michael Vick Case" in 2008.

The Vick special gave Animal Planet its most-watched telecast of the year among adults 25-54 (616,000 viewers.) Another investigation-minded special, this April's "Puppy Mills Exposed," also did well for the net.

"We thought the Michael Vick special would do well, but we were blown away by how well it did out of the gate," said Animal Planet president-g.m. Marjorie Kaplan. "We looked at those, as well as the success of something like 'Whale Wars,' and were moved the the passion our audience has for these kind of things. Rather than do them on an adhoc basis, we decided to curate a series of specials."

Animal Planet plans to announce the "Animal Planet Investigates" programming strand on Thursday, during its portion of Discovery's TV Critics Assn. press tour presentation.

Kaplan said the channel hopes to eventually increase the frequency beyond just quarterly.

First up, "Dogfighting: An Animal Investigates Special," from producer Anglia (a division of ITV Studios), will bow in January.

Future editions will look at issues such as animal testing, the exotic pet trade, gang dogs, cloning and slaughterhouses. Other producers already involved include Teale-Edwards/Working Dog Productions ("Death on a Factory").

"We're casting a wide net, and looking to both acquire and produce content in this space," Kaplan said. "We're comfortable with controversy. We want to be in the conversation. It's the controversy that makes these stories interesting."

And there going to feature the HSUS as well. Wonder how much money it took Animal Planet to get all animal rights.

I'm taking a guess here but I;''m willing to bet HSUS is in large part a
major funding source for this Animal planet series.

Its like running one big huge commercial so speak

Its sad people that people are getting sucked in by the lies

This is all contributing to the "Socializing" of America

Re: The Truth about HSUS -Humane Society of the United States

I've been increasingly disappointed with the garbage they put on Animal Planet. I use to love watching nature shows; big cats in the savannah, big snakes in the Amazon, big sharks, etc, but it seems like everything they show any more is influenced by the idiotic "When Animals Attack" shows of the late 90s. Every time I turn on Animal Planet, it's either a show about why to be afraid of spiders or snakes, zoo accidents, numbskull pet owners and countdowns (10 most venomous ---, 10 ickiest ---, 10 man-eating ---). It's like instead of dedicating their time to celebrating the planet's incredible fauna, they want to scare people with worst case scenarios. It's really frustrating when I talk about my snakes to the uninitiated and their first reaction is "aren't you afraid they'll blah blah blah".

Also, for the record, the HSUS is not to be confused with the local humane societies (animal shelters), the ASPCA, and the people who really work to better the quality of life for our captive animals. I'm sure they all have their respective down sides, but the HSUS is a lobbying machine with no real interest in animal welfare, but a political agenda that they are pushing.

Re: The Truth about HSUS -Humane Society of the United States

Here are a few choice quotations from the leadership of HSUS:

"Like any kind of sophisticated political operation, you use the best research tools in order to drive your message, but in terms of our policy formulations, I can't think of a time that we've done research."
-Wayne Pacelle, HSUS President & CEO

"The life of an ant and that of my child should be granted equal consideration."
-Michael W. Fox, HSUS Senior Scholar

"We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding."
-Wayne Pacelle, HSUS President & CEO

"My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture."
              -J.P. Goodwin, HSUS Grassroots Coordinator

"...nothing is more important than promoting veganism."
-Paul Shapiro, Director of HSUS Factory Farming Campaign

"Our goal is to get sport hunting in the same category as cock fighting and dog fighting."
-Wayne Pacelle, HSUS President & CEO

"We have found that civil disobedience and direct action has been powerful in generating massive attention in our communities ... and has been very effective in traumatizing our targets."

Here is another one that left my Jaw open

"HSUS leaders have even expressed their desire to put an end to the lifesaving biomedical research that requires the use of animals. As early as 1988 the group’s mailings demanded that the U.S. government “eliminate altogether the use of animals as research subjects.” In 1986 Washingtonian asked then-HSUS Vice-President for Laboratory Animals John McArdle about his opinion that brain-dead humans should be substituted for animals in medical research. “It may take people a while to get used to the idea,” McArdle said, “but once they do the savings in animal lives will be substantial.” "

                Then there is this

                Domestic Deception

It takes tens of millions of dollars to run campaigns against so many domestic targets, and HSUS consistently misleads Americans with its fundraising efforts by hinting that it’s a “humane society” in the more conventional sense of the term. Buried deep within HSUS’s website is a disclaimer noting that the group “is not affiliated with, nor is it a parent organization for, local humane societies, animal shelters, or animal care and control agencies. These are independent organizations … HSUS does not operate or have direct control over any animal shelter.”
