buying snakes right now

I want to know if you all think it is better to buy snakes right now or wait with everything going on?

I guess what I mean is I want a T+ boa and I might not be able to get one if we can only buy within state lines. So should I buy one now?

Just wondering.

It it were me..... I'd go ahead and buy them now.

Even though the future of our hobby is uncertain, we still need to hold on to hope and fight for what we want.

Even if that just means, buying another snake.

Don't let the current situation scare you away from what you want.

I would hold off because if the bill passes you will most likely be able to get one much cheaper. Imagine what will happen to the market value of boas once they can only be sold in-state at reptile shows. You could buy from a breeder out of state and just drive and pick it up. I believe driving across state lines with snakes will be illegal if the bill passes but I don't see how they will enforce that. I'm a K-9 trainer and I don't know of any police department outside of Hawaii with a snake detecting K-9 unit

I say if you want it buy it. I'm sure it wont be impossible to get if a ban gets put into place but I'm a firm believer of buying what you want. Why not?

Ever driven into Cali bra? There are inspection stations on all the highways shortly after you enter into Cali. They will ask you if you have anything you shouldn't. You'd be surprised at what you aren't allowed to bring into this state. It started as a produce inspection. Did you know you can not bring any fresh produce into Cali? Now they ask about a lot more stuff, including wildlife or animals. They can, do, and will inspect a certain number of vehichles. It's not all that thourough, I snuck a ferret in when I was 14, but may the good Lord help you if you get caught violating the Lacey Act.

This is the kinda thing I can see down this road. You're right. In the majority of states I've travelled to, there is no such thing, but who know what else will happen? It's just another right the government wants to take away so that they can assist Americans in making decisions that will better their lives.

it will definitely be hard to enforce, but think about it from the breeder's POV... unless the breeder knows you personally, how many do you think will take the chance that you might be an undercover fed?

Correct me if I'm wrong but unless you have to show a drivers license it wont be illegal to sale a restricted snake to anyone on your door step they just cant take it across the line which lies in the lap of the transporter or shipper.

As for the previous question I would buy it, I have begun to look for the few that I was going to wait on but might aswell now. I believe when the time comes and we are actually months away from the bill going into effect the price will go up. It will be supply and demand at that point. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure what the regs are in Ohio, but here in NJ when you apply for an exotic permit you need to supply a receipt of purchase or a note of transference of ownership before the application will be accepted. A reptile purchased out of state would have a receipt stating as much. ...Unless you are looking to not apply for the necessary permits - which I'm assuming will still be in place should S373 or HR2811 pass. If you don't then you will be keeping the animal illegally.

As ridiculous as this is we need to keep up being responsible or more of our rights will be taken away.
