Re: Ridiculous.
I know that it is rediculous that lawsuits can be filed over nothing with little or no penalty, but it is possible that the boy did pick up salmonilla from the snake.
A co-worker of mine's son got it from their iguana.
Stuff like this is all the more reason to be extra careful about not only out snake's hygenic needs, but also how we let others interact with our snakes.

Re: Ridiculous.
I don't understand how they can sue for this, "2 years after it supposedly happened??"
That just doesn't make sense!!
I know that it can happen, but to wait so long to sue?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
BTW where was the parents when the child was touching the snake??
Why didn't the parents make sure the child washed his hands???
"Any" good parent knows that your child needs to wash their hands after touching "any" animal. Especially, if you have a young child. I never let my child touch "any" animal, unless they washed their hands afterwards..... It's a basic rule in my house. I even keep germ-x in my car. I'm always prepared. LOL.
Maybe the parents should reflect on "their" partial "blame" for this. That is, "IF" the snake was actually the one that gave the child Salmonila

Re: Ridiculous.
So how are the parents not at fault here? My kids have been taught to wash there hands or use hand sanitizer after they touch any animal, period! When we go to the reptile show or the pet store even my 5 year old knows to ask for it. The parents should have washed the childs hands or put hands sanitizer on them.
Oh wait here's a thought, don't let your 2 year old get near a "big bad burm" that kid could have been CONSUMED! How dare the parents put that child in such danger, haven't they seen the news! That child should be taken away from the parents! They are so fast to point the finger at others but the parents are ultimately responsible for there own children and maybe they shouldn't have let it hold the snake.
People are just out to make a buck! That kid could have picked up salmonella several different ways, 2 year olds like to touch things and their hands always end up in their mouths. That is what hand sanitizer and wet naps are for!

What happened to helping out a neighbor?
You have people/zoos/pet stores out there that want to give to people, educate people, give them fun, and amazing specimens... and some people want to turn around andyou.... Very sad.
