Re: The war againts Snake Mites

I have only had mites on one animal which I obtained at a show and noticed the mites the next day. It was a ball python. I tried many things with no luck and then used PAM ( Prevent-a-Mite) on the enclosure. PAM works very well. I also have changed to cage carpet. I like the carpet because it looks nicer than paper and is easy to clean. I now use PAM on the enclosures of all newly acquired animals while I quarantine them. I also try to quarantine my animals in a separate room. Mites can travel to other enclosures in the same room if hungry and looking for a blood snack. I have seen mites frequently on PetCo snakes. I always tell the manager when I see them. They always promise to correct the problem and never seem to, LOL.

i have used (PAM) and it does not treat the snake only the encloser and the substrate if u want to get rid ov mites u have to treat the snake aswell and i use frontline spray and bomb the room but be careful with wot u use to bomb the room as many products will kill everything in there includeing any reptiles .
i always use frontline spray for many years now even on a snake wot has not got mites so then i no that will treat it if i have not noticed any mites i do not rate (PAM) . FRONTLINE is the best solution used over a 4 week period .
      cheers
