I'm going to give the Lice shampoo method a try but I couldn't find Nix shampoo at walmart so I picked up a different brand called equate and they both have the same active ingredients same amounts as well (Piperonyl butoxide 4% Pyrethrum to 0.33% pyrethrins Is their any reason this wouldn't be good to use I'm waiting for replies before I use it.

Re: has anyone used equate lice shampoo?
Now I read when cleaning the cage spray the new paper towel heavy with the solution and also spray eyes of the snake. should I be worried about the snake flicking it's tongue on the soaked paper towel and will it be safe on the eyes? One of the snakes is not mine I'm just using it for breeding purposes. I would feel horrible if something happened to it.

I wouldn't use anything with that high a concentration of permethrin on a reptile."It is not my responsibility to live up to other people's perceptions of who I am. I am only responsible for living up to the standards I set for myself, to be the person I want to be."

The Equate Lice Bedding Spray is the exact same thing as Provent-A-Mite, and costs about 7 times less. I'd go with a combination of it (for the cage), and Repti-relief (for the boa). Or Sevin Dust instead of the Equate. Less chance of toxicity with the Sevin Dust."It is not my responsibility to live up to other people's perceptions of who I am. I am only responsible for living up to the standards I set for myself, to be the person I want to be."

Re: has anyone used equate lice shampoo?
to shogun678 I have 5 Boas and a Kingsnake I'm going to treat all of them the same but only 3 Boas actually have niticable mites and the 3 are in 8ft wooden cages. I wish I had them in tubs I'm building a rack right now just waiting on the heat tape. This will be alot easier once I get tubs.
