    Boaphile review,

On Sept 9th I ordered my stack of Boaphiles, all 421d's with 1611 radiant heat panels and all with 1.5 flexwat heat tape, all cages also got lighting and the optional black hinges. I received my cages approx 6 weeks later due to some H1N1 flu issues and some baby boas that Jeff had been attending to. Also a last minute cage change was done. What I can say now is I am very happy with these cages and will and have already ordered my next one from Jeff. Jeff still provides great customer service and treats me well even after my "ranting" that I posted and then removed. Yes it was stupid of me and I still and always will say i'm sorry......Back to review. I have documented these tanks very closely as far as temperature and humidity and how they react to a 24 hour time frame and as to the room temperature changes. I have discussed this with Jeff also. So let here the numbers:

Room the cages are in had a average temperature change of over 11 degrees, The avg high was 79.5 and avg low was 68.7.

However the stack had a average temperature change of 4.4 degrees, average high was 86.1 and average low was 81.6. this is measure on the cool side of cage as warm side is constant 90 degrees as set on rancho. (also proven out by day to day temp readings)

Not bad for holding temp with a cool/colder room:

average humidity in the room was a whopping 31.5 (gotta love Colorado)

average humidity of cage was 66.1 with cat litter pan full of water only

A few other notes that I have found out is the lighting will give off some heat and this is part of the cage temp difference at night, snakes seem to digest food faster in these cages and seem to like the space to look around. After feeling the temp and humidity of these cage i now know i was not doing any good using my glass style cages. Again a big thumbs up to the Boaphile and his cages, I am so excited to see what happens with these snakes in the future and now their environment is the best I can possible provide for them.
Downside: For me the long wait time, for an impatient person like me, it got to me, It was all in good thoughts for the snakes and things just didn't go fast enough, the other is the lights, I had a bulb already go out and another one is dimming. The bulb itself is also not the easiest to find, took me 3 days and several stores to find a few. They are a 17 inch bulb and Lowes does carry them at select stores. Overall this is one of the best cages for the money. again Sorry and thanks to Jeff and I will be doing a lot more business with you.

Very cool pics man, it'll be good for future boaphile users to see what the actual set ups look like. About the wait time, it gets to all of us...of course. But they always come and it's well worth the wait. I've gotten tanks from Jeff sometimes in 2 weeks and then my last one took 6. Glad you like them and your set up is sweet. You still have to post if you are going to make those thermom holders

So do they have feet on the bottom of the cages? Do they "lock in" so they don't slip around?

I only make this post for accuracy sake:

Two 421D cages and one 421Townhouse cage were ordered on Sept. 9th and decked out with the extras Shawn detailed above. Yes, we had the Swine flu which along with a couple issues pushed us to within two days of six weeks from order date to the shipping date. That was a bad thing on our part and we failed to meet what I consider a reasonable wait time for which we are regretful.

Correct. On October 16th, three days before the first two 421D cages were shipped, the 421T cage was changed to a 421D cage with all the bells and whistles just like the first two. A third cage, a 333A cage which had been ordered on September 22nd, was also changed to an identical 421D cage. These two cages shipped seven days after these changes were made.

So essentially, the first two shipped in 40 days and the second two, after the change orders, shipped in 7 days. This is 23.5 days average. We do not ever wish to take as long as we did on the first two and cannot always promise the prompt shipping that occurred on the second half of the cages, but we always do our best.

No apology necessary. I am a very demanding customer as well. I understand completely.

The cages have "alignment pins" and holes drilled in top and bottom of the cages to put those pins into. After inserting the pins, the next cage stacks on top so the cages do not slide all over the place.

Het Jeff, Do the pins work on the fat stacks as well. I did nit see any holes in my fat stacks but only slots and the pins fall out so I do not have any pins from my fat stack to the 421's.

By the way, I am super happy with my cages and as stated below, they really work well with humidity and heat. My female is in shed right now and I have a feeling this will be the best shed ever. My humidity stays at 75% all the time for days on end. That is with misting the cage once a week to week in a half. It helps I live in extream humidy however.

My garage has dropped temp drastically however the ambient temp in the cage has only dropped about 4 degrees on the cool end. This is great since it is only cold down here in Miami for about 2 days and then it goes back up to the 80's again.

The only thing that I need to get use to now is going into the cage from the front instead of the top. The boa's seem to be more aware and as stated below, they do pass their food quicker for sure. My lights in the cage seem to raise the temp about 4 degrees but I have natural ligh coming into the garage from windows so I only use the lights to view or to clean the cage.

I am really happy and would recommend these cages to all.

Oh.......on a side note, the fat stack works awesome to. I can't wait to order more snakes and more cages from you Jeff.

NOW I JUST NEED A BOA FROM YOU JEFF.

Hey Joe! What do you... think? I guess that's really worse than just saying it isn't it?

Stick the pins in the holes in the bottom of the bottom cage Joe. They fit snug and really should not fall out of those holes. Then align the cage so the pins ride in the little slots. Badda boom, badda bang. Alignment Central! The slots on top of the Fatt Staxx are slots vs. holes because, due to the slight variation of material thickness, holes on the cage would not always align perfectly with holes on the Fatt Staxx. But they will align and work perfect with those little slotted sections. Genius I know. We thought of everything. Glad you like the plastic! Great fun!
