Re: whats everyone using for thermostats ?
I use a herpstat pro and a helix dbs1000...ive had them both for about 7-8 years give or take..i would highly recommend herpstat...the helix is also good but blew a fuse on me about a year ago...easily changed but still had about a day with no heat to the tubs

I use the Ranco brand t-stats you've seen offered on Jeff's website - both the single and double versions.

I've used Rancos in the past and still hold on to them as backups, but now I am using all Herpstats.

Re: whats everyone using for thermostats ?
I use a bunch of different types herpstats, Vivarium electronics, Rancos, and Hydrofarms. They all do their job really well but I prefer the hydrofarms and rancos because of their simplicity. Herpstats are great if you like different alerts and like having your temps exact to the decimal point.

Re: whats everyone using for thermostats ?
I like herpstats primarily because I use RHPs. I really like that it shows you the percentage of the heating element's output. However for the price a UL rating would be nice.
I think under most circumstances any good on/off thermostat with a UL rating would work well with a UTH. The shorter the temp swing the better... For example a Johnson clicks on/off in one degree increments while a hydrofarm uses a two degree increment setting.

You want a Herpstat 2 at least. If buying online. Buy directly from Spyder Robotics.
