  • Neodesha cage heating - Please help...

hi everyone! i'm new to this forum, and relatively new to boas in general

i've been keeping my red tail boa in a smaller tank, but recently decided i should move her into a bigger cage. i have a 48" Neodesha cage (with the slanting front doors) and need to know how to heat it. Basically, i'm keeping the cage in my house which has a temp. of 70* - and need to raise the temp. of the cage about 10-20 degrees. i've heard Mylar Heat tape is good, but can this be used on plastic Neodesha cages?!
Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated!

if this question is already answered on the forum, sorry!, i tried to read the other entries

i'm happy that i was able to get a Neodesha before they closed, but now i need to heat the thing...

    Thank you so much!

The best soution I would think would be UTH (Under Tank Heaters). The cobra heat mats get to about 100 degrees but i dont think that is hot enough to melt plastic. I could be wrong though. The temps in the cage should be like this: hot end should be arond 88-90? and the cool end should be about 80-85?, those are what I keep my boa at but im sure you will get some other answers. The ambient temp should never fall below about 78 because the boas cant thermal regulate and then they wont be able to digest . Hope this helps a little ;D

            okay

i decided to use a UTH along with a heat lamp. i was scared at first that the lamp would melt the side of the cage, but it didnt...

the cool end is 84, and the hot end is a little over 90

thanks for all your help boys!
