    Re: Heating Question

If the cages are set up the exact same way and everything is identical to the other, it should be fine to use one thermostat to control the cages. Just be sure to monitor the temperatures.

I would stack the cages and then use a piece of heat tape inbetween every other one... This most likly do the trick....

    Re: Heating Question

If money allows, I think I would go with CHE's instead. The initial cost is greater, but I have found that the bulbs don't have a real long life. I used them for awhile and went through 3 or 4 in just over a year. A CHE (with thermostat or rheostat to keep proper temp) I believe has a minimum life of over 5 years.

    Just my 2 cents

From the sounds of it, yeah I would think that the bulb would do the trick. But I'm not an expert. But I would assume that since the entire room is at 79-80 degrees that would take care of the cage temps so all you'd need would be one lamp on the cages for warmer spot in the cages. 50watts should do it, who knows, you may even be able to get away with a lower wattage.

    Heating Question

:-/how's everyone doing????here is a question for ya.here is the scenario:i have right now 3 boas in seperate glass enclosures, each has its own uth and red basking lamp for heat.i have built 6 melemine 4x2x2 enclosures with 3/8 inch lexan door.(looks just like a boaphile 442,but made of wood) .the room is dedicated to the snakes and has a digitally controled heater (79 deg.) & the same humidifier (60%).now here is the question...........whould (do you all think) a 50w red heat lamp (for the purpose of a hot spot) in each one do the do the job.the enclosure has the same minimal ventalation as the boaphile ones 1/8 of an inch around the lexan door.

In advance thanks very much for your advice.........ciao
