it looks awesome the doors like fine to me. but if you do decide to change them, you can alway go with a little thicker plexiglass, and just use them as the doors. you won't need to build a frame.

              Re: finally finished

i went with 3/8" plexi, but my dimensions are a little bigger.  each door is 28" x 35".  i got it from home depot and they'll cut to your msmts.  i bought the biggest sheets theyhad and total cost was $55.  all you need to hang them is some off-set hinges and your done. but by using double pane, you could probably go with 1/4".

how do you hang the hinges with that??? do you just drill a hole through the glass and bolt them in or what??? i might go with the 3/8 inch stuff. how much would 2 24x24 inch pieces cost you figure??? well i dont think it would be much more than thirty bucks or so huh. thanks in advance

                    Re: finally finished

exactly, just drill the holes directly into the plexiglass.  the plexi would be probably $40 bucks or so.  i built 2 frames for the front of may cage, and then just cut the plexiglass to a few inches smaller than the outside of the frame (how a piece of glass fits in a picture frame).  use an off set hinge to hang the plexiglass.  use the middle beam to lock the 2 doors to.  you may not have thought about this (i realized this the hard way), but the glass will actually not be flush with the center beam due to the nut on the bolt holding the glass.  so if you are going to use some type of locking system like latches, you will need to build a little spacer to bring both parts flush together.  i hope you can picture what i'm talking about.

i got you, and i know what you are thinking. here is what i am thinking. i am going to get another piece of melemine on the 1st and redo the doors. i will get the plexi glass cut down to about an and inch lower than the top so the screws dont offset the doors. and i want to get the doors flush in the center so i can remove that center post and lock the doors to each other. now does that make sense? i am going to give this a whirl and see how it goes.
