Is Flexwatt heat tape the only source of heat that I need for a 4'x2' enclosure? If so do you install it on the inside of the enclosure or do have to use it like a UTH? Where is the best place to put it top, bottom,or side?

    Thanks
    Josh

    Re: Flexwatt

    Josh,

You can place it under or on the back. I place mine under whenever possible. Some rack designs do not allow that, but the breeding size cages do.

Do not place it inside if you can avoid it. Too many things can go wrong with it on the inside.

Also don't forget you need a thermostat type device to control the temp of the flexwatt, and that you should cover half of the bottom, so if the cage is 4 foot wide, you should use a 2 foot piece of 11" wide flexwatt.

        Re: Flexwatt

Josh it is the only heat source that I use on my breeding cages.

It provides a 90-92 degree "hot" side and a perfect 82 degree cool side. I do see the boa switch sides quite a bit, so I know the temp gradient is allowing them to thermoregulate properly.
