Good question Mike...i was wondering the same thing too...my big girl cheeto would for surely either tip that thing over or wear out those hinges QUICK!
It's lookin really good and you can sure see your craftmanship skills!
The slides are rated for 100# but as for the tip I am thinking the same thing and I do believe I will either anchor it or go with a counterweight some how
Thanks for the compliments and the pics again Ernest

I love the concept of the slide. My luck it would tip over and then Id get pissed I should look into something like that with a rack system, I mean like a hatchling rack and have the base slide out to expose all a nice row of shoeboxes! Very cool please keep us updated.
Thanks it would realy be an easy fix, you would just need to anchor it into the wall behind it with a couple of L brackets and some screws into studs of course and it will go nowhere.
Thanks, this is kind of my rough draft but I will make it work.

It looks like it's coming along nicely for you. I can't wait to see the finished product. I'm starting a cage out of melamine this week. I have a bunch of spare melamine in the garage that I was using to make solid lids for aquariums. Now that I got rid of all my aquariums, I need to use up that melamine. I like the sliding drawer idea, I just don't know that I'm handy enough to pull it off myself.

Here are the slides I used,Liberty Ball Bearing Full Extension 20 In. - D52 at The Home Depot, all you have to do is subtract 1" (1/2" per slide)from your total inside width of your box and there is your tray width. and say you have 23 1/4" inside depth of the box you would use a 22" slide and you could make your depth of the tray 22 3/4" so your tray would be on a 2' deep x 4' wide box (outside dementions) using 3/4" melamine... 22 3/4" x 45 1/2". Mount the slide even with the front and against the bottom of the box and tray and that will leave you 3/8" clearence under the tray. You will have 1/2" clearence all the way around the tray. Wow... Hope that helps. Maybe I need to Video tape building one, much easier than all this typing...lol

I used 22" slides, they come from 14, 16, 18 all the way to 24" I think
