My 2nd time building ANYTHING!!!!!!!

so obviously its now finished, i havent even screwed in the top yet.... and im still deciding on what type of opening i want... there are so many but i want to most efficient and effective way to accomplish that..... any suggestions.... OTHER THAN SLIDING DOORS.... i want either double doors or one door to open downward if that makes any since......

nice dude looks good did you use 3/4 inch?

if you use plexi glass you just hinge it on the bottom and put 2 locks of some sort up top

Its my favorite cage design swing down door with spring loaded hinges
and a sliding acrylic window much like you'd see at
the Doctors/dentist office receptionist area

I use that sliding window constantly rarely open the cage door
I always use the sliding window

My suggestion would be to add a 2" tall "substrate dam" to the bottom. It would also be a good place to put the hinges for your drop down door as well as keeping substrate and/or fluids from spilling on the floor when you open the door.

I wasn't sure if you planned on adding that or not.

good looking cage buddy! I also like the bottom hinge doors, but I kind of like how Lar did that but also added sliding doors as well.

i was most definately going to put the dam in i just havent had it cose from my extra piece..... but thank for the tip

I would say to do the 2 doors thing because when you have one that folds down I think its harder because if thats going to be on the ground then if you forget to close it you could possibly step on it and break it and if its set or something then you have to worry about it swinging down and what if it slipped out of your hand one day and the glass broke. just saying when i do my cage im doing double doors.

Thats a good point. I built mine with a swing down door, but I have it up off the floor so that the door swings all the way down, completely out of the way.

I ordered it through Lowe's it ended up being about $33. the manager hooked me up with a lil discount.

Nice, I am going to build a few new racks pretty soon so I'll have to check that out. That is the cost of the white that they keep in stock around here. Were you able to order the trim from them as well? I am sure I can get the trim online if not.

yes you can order the trim from lowe's. They use the "band-it" brand and i tried to order the trim directly from them but they are just a wholesale business. but yes you can get it from lowes....
