  • just a stupid question?

A guy I work with who used to have a couple of RTB told me he used to use a water bed heater inside his cages. He used outside carpeting to line his cages. He said it worked realy good because the water bed heaters have built in temp sensors and adjustable rheostats. Does anyone think this would work? Or even be safe?

I wouldn't count on such a device. I've never heard of another using anything like that either. Go with another device such as a heat panel, ceramic heat emitter, or heat tape.

I looked at it in depth when I was trying to decide on a heating method. I found that the capillary type thermostat probe was not accurate enough and there was WAY WAY WAY too much risk of the pad shorting out or malfunctioning and frying yoru snakes. Be safe and go with a heat panel, CHE, human heat pad, or tape.

        Hey Tattoo,

I have to agree with both Xzylum and Stormyva. It will not be acturate enough, not worth the risk..

Thanks everyone for settl'n that arguement for me. I tried telling the guy at work he was crazy for using that type of heater but he didn't want to hear it from me.
