  • Boaphile fat stack and 421

I have to say first that the build quality is awesome. I am super happy with everything. I have about half of it put together since I am waiting on the other half of the fat stack to come in next tuesday. The quality is second to none. The floresent light is mounted awesome on the cage, the wiring and flex watt is awesome. I even love the vents on the side that I can cover up or leave them open.

So I have a couple questions with out having to bother Jeff to much.

My garage temp right now is 84 and so is the inside of the cages with out turning anything on. If I set my thermostate to 88, wouldn't that raise the ambient temp to much on the inside onf the cage? I just want to make sure I amd a temp. gradient on both sides.

Next question would be probe placement. I know where to put the probe on the 421's which in in between the cages. Should I just lay it in there so use electrition tape to tape it to the flex watt?

I also know the probe will go on the bottom directly on the the flex watt on the fatt stacks. Again should I tape it to the flex watt with electic tape?

People, I would recommend this set up to everyone. It is awesome! I look so professional now. lol

Re: Boaphile fat stack and 421

First off congrats on getting the best cages on earth, and I hope you enjoy them for the next 15-20 years (at least)!!!!

I believe if you set the T-stat at 88 you should be easily getting your hot-spot to that temp on the inside of the cage. 84 on the cool side is a little warm in my opinion, but I know plenty of people who keep it that high. If I were you I would try to get my garage a little below 80 and set the T-stat at 90.

Next, you should DEFINATELY tape the probe. This way you don't risk it falling off and your T-stat thinking it can't heat your cages up! Tape the probe to both the fat stack and 421 flexwatt.

Good luck and again congrats....LETS SEE SOME PICS!!!!

I can't cool the garage anymore then what it is until we get a cold snap which only last a few days and then back up to the 80's again. I'll try keeping the vents open and just see how it goes. The nice thing is my garage has a 60-80 percent humidity veleve all the time except for the winter which is not much of a winter.

Congrats on the new toys man! I want to see pics when you get the rest in. What are you going to do about keeping your snakes cool in the garage during the crazy Miami summer?

Re: Boaphile fat stack and 421

It's still summer and is pretty much summer all year round. lol Even in the winter, it will only be cold for 2-3 days at the most then shoot right back up in the 80's. I think I will be fine and besides, if the burms and boas in the wild Everglades can do it, I think mine will be just fine only with lots of love. I hooked up the theromostate on half of the fat stack and it is reading perfect right now. 82 in the front and 88 in the back. SWEET!!!!!! I will post pictures and maybe a video once everything is set up. No need to show half the project now.

I have 6 drawers to fill and I still have my house custom made tanks coming in next month so basically I will have either 2 421's not filled or 8 drawers to fill. What a problem to have. lol I kinda want to fill them with my own babies however but 2 years is a long time to see them empty. I might oder another fat rack system to put by this ones side and eventually fill the entire wall. I love this. Like I said earlier, I feel like a professional.

I just love it and the quality is next to none. I have another few days before I get the other half, put it together and then get the 421's up and running. I can't wait and pics will come and maybe my first video.
