  • Anyone using Proline cages?

    Hello,

I am looking for a cage upgrade for a fairly large boa (just about nine feet). I have heard some complaints about the Proline cages being difficult to seal due to the sealant not sticking to the HDPE. I really like the Prolines but have concerns about leaking with the heavy weight of this snake and copious amounts of urine that she releases. What are your opinions on the Prolines? Will the seams/seals hold with all that weight and pee?

If I get a Proline, it will likely be a double cage 8x2.

Boaphile and AP are also being considered.

    Thanks.

Yes I gave them some consideration and ruled them both out already. Thank you for the suggestion.

        Re: Anyone using Proline cages?

I've used smaller Pro-lines in the past...you are right to have concerns about corners staying sealed. Might be solved though by completely supporting the bottom so the floor cannot flex.

I like my prolines havent had a problem with them leaking. If you seal it the way the instructions say then you shouldnt have a problem at all.

I like my 48x30" Pro-Lines, but much prefer Animal Plastics for 6'+ enclosures. Can't speak for the sealing part of it though, none of mine are sealed.

I have a 4x2 proline and it works great. But the snake that's in there is still just a juvenile.

All I have are Boaphiles and they don't sag or leak. I can't address the other brands.

                    Re: Anyone using Proline cages?

I have both AP and Boaphile enclosures and I love them both. With boaphile you do not have to assemble when it arrives like you do with AP. AP you have to assemble but they do give you the sealant to seal at the bottom when the enclosure comes. I have notice that AP actually maintains humidity better than the boaphile, plus the price is better with AP when compared to Boaphile (4ft cages). I resealed one of my AP cages this year and I have had it since 2011. In all, I prefer AP over Boaphile, I don't mind assembly. But I love my Boaphile also. As a matter of fact, I just order a 122D to add to extend my current Boaphile cage.

As another option, I have two 96"x30"x18" dividable Monster enclosures for reticulated pythons, and neither of them leak.

Thank you for all the input. I'm still considering the options.

                        Thanks bcr_229... I hadn't thought about Monster. I did request a quote from them for a 7x2 1/2.

                          Re: Anyone using Proline cages?

There were two small yellow ponds in her cage this eve ... Thus my concern for leakage is more than warranted.

I've heard good things about monster cages but do not have one. Should my female retic ever need an 8 foot cage I think that's who I may go with.

See I've heard bad reviews on monster cages but I've also heard bad reviews on all the other types as well lol
