• Snakes that Started Your "Addiction"

I would like to see the first snake that started it all for you. It can be ANY snake, and doesn't necessarily have to be your first snake. It can be that one animal in your collection that really pushed you for more.

    I'll start.

This was my first snake I got when I was about 10yrs old. I got her from a reptile store when she was a little worm.

I named her SweetP because the has the letter "P" on her back and was the sweetest thing in the world. I had her for many years. However, before I started college I needed to sell my snakes, and she was one of them :/ She went to a good home though, Ill miss her.

Okay, I'll play...I work as an assistant in the humane investigations department of our local animal shelter...one of our officers was inspecting an "iffy" pet store and noticed an entire rack of baby boas...when she mentioned that one of them looked especially nice, the Asiatic owner said "You like? You take...no, no, you take, she bite." So our officer bagged the little snake and brought it back to me...the pics are her when I first got her, and how she looks now...I became totally obsessed and now have 5 boas, but she's still one of the prettiest...and yes, she is a somewhat irritable and reactive girl, but has yet to bite me (except for that one feeding mistake, but it was an accident)...anyhow, here's all 6 hunky feet of her, taken last summer...

Thanks for joining in the fun!

shelleyr123, she turned out to be a beauty. One of the most colorful/pink boa I have seen. Looks like she has light blue eyes.

@tsblair , the more I see pictures of anery boas, the more I like em'. Thats a good picture with all the greenery.

My first, my favorite. She's the only one I'm emotionally attached to. I like all my snakes, but I love Pandora. Hence my screen name. She's "just" a normal. But I think she's beautiful! Pay no attention to the ugly fat guy holding the boa constrictor.

My first boa I owned when I was 11 years old. I named her Bo and she was only about a 2 weeks old when I got her she lived for 18 years. When she died she was around 40 lbs. and 9’ 6” long. I took her everywhere with me when I was kid. I would ride my bike with her raped around the brim of a cowboy hat I had then to the grocery store, School, friend houses, even family reunions out of state with my parents. Most of my relatives still to this day ask me if I still have snakes before they ask me how me or my family are doing. LOL When she died I had her skin / hid tanned and I told my wife and kids I want her put in my casket with me when I die.

                    Take care
                    Tom

Can I ask how you had this done? A taxidermist? Was it expensive? I've thought about having this done when my girl passes (hopefully many many many years from now).

I only know two of my snakes' birthdays. The other that I know is because I thought St. Patrick's Day was an awesome day for a snake to be born.
