hey i was thinking about buying a rtb from a exotic pet store called herpoton exatoic pets, they have some really good looking babies, one thing is they have an adult rtb in with a burmese and a rock python, but the babies are together and have very very bright red and pink and there is a 21 day warrenty and no matter what happens to it you get your money back and a in store credit the babies are 2 months old and captive born and bred and they buy them from a breeder. what do ya think?

Re: i have a question
It is never a good idea to put a python with a Redtail... This one is a real toss up.. do you have a good rep. vet around... if so you can take it to a vet visit... to see if they are healthy... then that 21 day warrenty would come in handy...

for that price i would buy from a private breeder. at least with a private breeder you have a better chance of purchasing a healthy mite free animal. pet stores almost always have these little pests and they are no fun to deal with.

Re: i have a question
Hi diablo
I have to agree with everyone else on this one. Pet store snakes are always a risk. Even if the babies are from a private breeder, mites could be on anyone of their retiles and Mites travel far. if I remember correct an adult prego female mite can walk 54 feet in an hour, and they can smell the snakes and go right to them.. If they have mites, even ones that are not visual yet, you can expect to spend 20-30 bucks more treating them and any other snake that is in your house. I have only had a mite problem once and trust me it is not something I plan to repete in the future. Its not even the cost of something like Provent a mite its the hours of scrubbing tanks down, etc.. I figured we had about 20 hours of work logged in cleaning and spraying. Its just a hugh headache. Not saying that this store has a mite problem, but I find that 98% of pet shops do. So many animals, etc move through that store its hard not to..
Good luck
Steve
