chat sessions

there was a time in here when we used to have a night designated for a chat session. i was wondering if anybody would be interested in starting one up again. we can do it whatever night is convenient for the majority. what do u guys think?

yea i know its probably a long shot but it was cool when we had it. so i figured maybe now that time has passed and we have a lot of new members people may be interested. we shall see.

Ya know, chat here would be a lot more active with it set up on an irc server.
The java chat here is way to slow due to all the refreshing it does every few seconds which makes it quite annoying.

Clay, if you can set the java to connect on a server as most javas do, then anyone can set up the room on a server for you.

retic is correct about the chat room features clay. over at GI (Gecko Island) we have a nice chat room with plenty of features. Just an thought.

Sounds good to me as I no longer idle in chat rooms anymore. I talked to Clay about the IRC part already. I think he prefers the java version becuase you have to be logged in and all and it's part of the YaBB forum package. From what i hear, they are working on an IRC version. ???

I mean a real chat service using real Mirc and a real server.

The java and even the mirc plugin for java will still be slow since the Yabb is slow and this site is on a slow server. A real java chat is also faster than what Yabb offers.

Go to mirc.com and get the free download.
Or go to any real chat room and someone will share/send a copy of tracer, ircN, nightscript or whichever you choose.
Then you will see a BIG difference in chatting in 'real' time.

And there will be a LOT more activity both in chat and on here.

There are many servers to choose from, irc.reptilerap.com is oe that has little down time and no net splits. along with the benefit of creating a java connection when the room is created.
