  • Rosey Red Tail Boa?

So me and girlfriend were talking about getting a snake. She's had corn snakes before, and I've had friend that have had boa, and since I was buying it was my choice... So we get to the pet store, after calling around and finding a good one we wanted to go and look at.

We get there and I'm attacted to the boa section... We see a "Rosey Red Tailed Boa" (Exactly what it was labeled) Well me and my girlfriend never heard of this type, (nor red tail or rosey) so in talking with the people at the store they tell us the general information about snake handling taking care etc... They weren't sure how old she is, they've had her for about 4 wks. Asked about how long she should grow they said around 3-4 feet. Everything was good, paid left... (beautiful snake by the way)

So this morning I'm looking around on the internet and I can't find anything about a "rosey red tailed boa" Only some Rosey Mexican's and some red tailed boa...

Now from the pictures I've seen, even if the store got her a week or so after she was born (so that'd make her about 5 wks old, which is a low low estimate) she seems way to small to be a Red Tail. (just under 2 feet right now) Her marking look exatcly like a red tail and NOTHING like a Mexican rosey...

So I'm hoping someone out there has an Idea...

Thanks in advance... (I'll see if I can get a picture of her up later)

hehe when red tail babies are born they are like 12-18 inches so you might have a red tail if it looks like one. rosey mexican boas look way different if im thinking of the right one post a pic and someone will tell you what it is for sure.

oh by the way i forgot to mention that if its a red tail they grow alot bigger than just 3-4 feet thats how long they are after they are a lil over a year old clay told me when i bought my new baby that he had the potential to be 7-9 ft fully grown. but if you havent found the care sheets here on the forum check em out, they tell you everything just about that youi would need to know bout keeping a red tail boa.

You have what looks to be a Columbian "Red Tail Boa.

                        Re: Rosey Red Tail Boa?

Kinda what we thought after doing some surfing and researching, would the type I have be the 'Anerythristic' morph I've read about? I know you've said Columbian, but shes awful lite, and has no red... Or does the brown on her tail count? Thanks in advance... I love these forums and we'll be a regular from now on
