  • Ughh... So Annoyed

    Sorry, I have to vent.
I just went to one (there are only 2 out here) of the reptile shops here, and I could not believe it! They had a 5' Reticulated python, a 5' Burmese python, and an adult BCI in the same little enclosure. Only 1 water dish, and no substrate!
I know conditions are probably like this at most pet stores, but I have never seen it for myself. Disqusting.

i guess i'm lucky, there are only 2 pet stores in my area the deal with snakes, i will say that they both do a pretty good job. one of them houses a 12 foot reticulated in a cage big enough to be my room, ;D, any way i guess i'm just one of the lucky ones.

That is a pretty bad way to keep snakes in captivity. Hope you said something to the owners or manager. The pet shop I use rarly caries adults but when they do they at least construct special enclosures to house them until they are sold. They try to keep all their animals in correctly sized enclosures, such as the family of marmosets who have a cage larger than my room.

            HI,
The part thats really sad is what are the odds they all have mites, or worse some serious disease like IBD,
How many of them are going to get RI and the group you mentioned are almost all giant Pythons that are gonna be a handfull in a few year's. My friend raises retics and he's constantly getting bites.. they are a bit grumpy for my household. them pythons have some serious teeth..

Yeah, I know. I said something to the girl who was working there and she said she doesn't know much about snakes and that their reptile person said that it is ok to keep them all together >. He wasn't there at the time of course. I will never go back there again. I just wanted to take them all home, but they were all priced over $200. Plus my hubby would have killed me.
