Here are some of the most used forum lingo abbreviations. I know these get posted every once in a while but there may be newer members that have not seen these. Of course all of you IM (Instant messaging) users are pros at this by now.

AFK - Away from keyboard
B - I'm back
BBFN - Bye bye for now
BBL - I'll be back later
BFN - Bye for now
BG - Big grin
BO - Brain overload
BRB - I'll be right back
CMIIW - Correct me if I'm wrong
CU - See you
CUL8R - See you later
EG - Evil grin
FIIOOH - Forget it. I'm out of here
FITB - Fill in the blank
G - Grin
G2G - I've got to go
IMHO - In my humble opinion
IMO - In my opinion
JK - Just kidding
L8R - Later
LOL - I'm laughing out loud
NE1 - Anyone
OMG - Oh my gosh
ROFL - Rolling on the floor laughing
ROFLMAO - Lori's version which ends with my a-- off

Hey Clay,
The Lingo lesson is nice...but since this is a boa forum, maybe you could add 'boa lingo' for newbies as well :. As an example, BRB also stands for 'Brazilian Rainbow Boa'.
Just a thought.

I think one of the best ways to test your knowledge of 'forum lingo' is to read one of Lori's longer posts, and then try to translate it :. If you can completely understand it, then your a forum pro ;D J/K (just kidding).

HEY! That one comes from being an IRC user ya know lol. There's also ROFLMFAO..Which I am NOT going to say what that one is exactly...NOT hard to figure out when ya take the above one into account at all hehe.

HAHAHAHAHA ..Although MOSt of them in the longer posts should be self explanatory ya know. ;D I mix a lot of medical lingo in at times. That is what throws some people...lol Here's some more for ya..Maybe this can help ya figure it out hehe...

ie = in other words
tx = transfer or treatment [ all depends on which context it is used in]
dx = diagnosis
bbiab = be back in a bit
cya = see ya
imho [ a lot of us use this as "in my honest opinion"]
ol = online
dunno = I don't know
ya = you
atm = at the moment
sub = substrate
calci = calcium sand

In regards to all the as is, is all, even ....Your just gonna have to figure that on your own lol. That's enough for now ;D

Thanks for the info! I don't use IM or IRC even. I just use e-mail and boa forums is all. I copied the info for reference. Now I can start translating! BFN 8)
