    ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

    Hey CLay,

    I was wondering . . Does only so many of the topics stay? I mean, I was looking back for when we discussed the CHE's last summer when I got C&C, & couldn't find it. . I notice that the oldest messages in most now are @ 11-15?

    Hugs,
    Tara

    Re: TOPICS in the Forums. . . Clay ???

    Yes maam, older posts are deleted. Basically it is a matter of storage space. I have so much storage allowed, and any space beyond that it costs more money. So I have to trim the post down and the uploaded pictures every so often.

    We were close to 9000 total posts, when I last trimmed it down and Deleted stuff that had been inactive for 6 months. We are already up to 6400 posts again, so there is coming another time when I will have to delete the old inactive posts.

    Wish I could keep them all, but that would take some help from folks willing to donate money to help fund the site. I have had some people ask me to place a "Donation" button on the site to allow them to send 10 bucks or 20 bucks to help, but up to this point I had not considered it. I may do so and see if anyone is interested in helping.

    It averages about 20 bucks a month to keep the site running. Does'nt sound like much, but it can add up. Another 5 or 10 bucks a month would allow me to almost double my storage space and therefore more than double the size of the forum capabilities.

    Oh well we will see what others think.

      Hey, I think the donation thing is good!!! There are LOTS of users here. . . If everyone even donated like $3-5, you couold use that $$ to pay for the site! After all, everyone is benefited from it. . . :}

      I totally understand the deleting, I just hadn't known. . . I was looking for the CHE post & realized it LOL:}

      Thanks for filling me in & there ya go! Ya got an opinion on the donation thing (heeeheee! :-* )

        Ahh YUP it costs to keep these sites up and going
        Clay on rtb we have a donation button set up and it helps to pay for things needed in relation to the site over there. Our cost to keep the site up and served was ranging in like the $250/month area I beleive awhile back. We don't delete the old posts and just leave em up though. So the bandwidth used is astronomical, when ya combine that with the # of hits and page flips the site gets daily also. Go ahead and add a donation button, it won't hurt anything at all and may even help a bit for site cost too.

            LOL if that is 10 rodents for me, (or more baby rodents LOL!) I am sure that $20 would also be saving Clay $$ too on bedding, food whatever for his breeder rat supply, eh Clay?? :}
