  • Thanks

I would just like to say thank you to everyone that participates in these forums. I have learned a great deal about snakes in such a short period of time. I am a proud owner of a brand new baby boa. I have her/him (it) in a 55 gallon glass tank so far. The temps are good and the humidity stays at around 52 for the most part give or take. Just wanted to officially make myself an honorary(?) member. if any one has anything to suggest and or pass along it will be greatly appreciated. My name is JR and just wanted to introduce myself just in cause I had to call upon one of you more experience individuals. thanks for any responces and I am glad to be apart of something like this. THX

Welcome, I hope you enjoy yourself here. There are several topics that cover the all glass enclosures, so you should find plenty of suggestions

            Hello Dadude,

            Welcome to the forums..

Sounds like your on the right track.. As Clay mentioned there are threads that have to do with glass tanks, there is one in the cage section that you might find helpful..

            Any questions, just ask..

            Good luck

thanks for all of the feed back and the welcome!!! I will definitely hit you guys up when ever I have a problem. A couple things real quick..I read in one of Clays care guides that it is ok for the humidity to be between 50 and 60. Clay and anyone else who cares to repond...how true is this and does it mattter where you live..if so I am in wash dc....also I tried to take the snake out yesterday around the time that I usually cut of the lights..I wanted to show it to a friend of mine..he didn't snap but he did seem a lil aggetated..any comments =on this..

                Re:Thanks

Well you just got the snake and they tend to be a lil' shy at first intell they learn that you are not going to ship them off or hurt them... The snake will come to trust you...
Also it is ok for it to drop to around 50 but you want it to be 60% more then half the time.... At least 60% of the time...
I try to keep it at 60% all the time... I find that to be nearly impossible... but you can make it so it is at the right % for like 90% of the time...
                Good luck...

                    Re:Thanks

i know alot of people dont like glass enclosures but i use a glass enclosure but my glass is 1 inch thick, and it holds temps and humidity perfect . it also has 4 individual open/closeable vents on either sides. but on the down side it cost me 1500 bucks!!!!!! and it was custom built, eventually it will go and be replaced with custom built enclosures into the walls of my house. one day........... hehe but i had a 55 gallon tank with half glass half screen lid and it was aweful at holding anything!!!!! good luck with your enclosure.
