  • Tell the story Papa E

Well it sounds like E had a real tough time getting these T-shirts from the shop . I know that I, for one, would love to hear the story of how you managed to avoid a fist fight . So c'mon Papa , spit it out .

Re: Tell the story Papa E

I'm sorry that i didn't see this thread...i was roaming the old threads and saw it and said "Huh...how did i miss this one?"

    So here it is....

I ended up going with one of my two friends Shirt Embroidery Company that is only a few blocks away from my house. I talked to Chuy and told him what iw as looking into getting...he said once i have all the graphics done and ready to bring them by and then we would talk about pricing...Well i took care of all the graphics and went back and talked to his nephew who runs the place while Chuy is out. He looked at the design and talked to his graphics guy and the graphics guy said..."I don't have to do anything, Ernest did it all...all i have to do is burn the plates" So he gave me the quotes and we went with that...

The sales were slow and i KNOW why...i asked myself...only the ones who know me well and trust me would order without seeing an actual sample...so i went back to Chuy's and told him if i could get a sample shirt so i can show it to everyone and hope to pick up the sales to meet the minimum of 40 shirts (had only about 13 at the time) Well it turns out that he wanted for me to pay $80 plus taxes for the ONE SHIRT, which would cover burning the plates and having the guys do that one shirt i needed...i told him WAIT A MINUTE! EIGHTY BUCKS FOR ONE SHIRT??? He said dont worry..we require that you meet a minimum of shirts in order to burn the plates..so i will credit you the rest. I said ok..and went ahead and did it...well it turned out to be a BAD CHOICE at the time for me...i ended up over drafting on my bank account and had to pay a stupid fine at the bank and the shirt place let it slide (wife didn't so much so...i got in trouble )

I went that day after work to get the sample and the nephew "Julian" came back and told me he didn't think i was going to like it...i looked at it and SURE ENOUGH he was right...i talked it over with the graphics guy and we worked it out after 3 more design attempts. I went to the back with Julian to watch them screen print the sample and make sure ot do it how i wanted it done!

Well i got the sample and had to also pay extra for the hoodie...i created the youtube vid and took some pics of my boy wearing the sampled shirt and hoodie...things started to pick up and members started to order...i was stoked and the light at the end of the tunnel of 40 shirts was looking good! Well we ended up meeting the Min and surpassed it by another 30+ shirts!

So now i am really feeling good about things after i have had such bad luck...well, NEVER ASK "What else can go wrong?" cause IT WILL...I went to the post office to check on the "Priority Envelope" sizes...well there is only ONE size for $4.95 and it was SMALL!!! I started to worry cause i had put that i could stuff 3 shirts...or 1 hoodie per envelope...i was like "CRAP, there is NO WAY i am going to be able to fit that in this stupid little thing..." I called Mike (Dirtyshooter...i always call him when i start to stress...thanks for being a shoulder brother) and Mike says..."YEP, sounds like you messed up alright!" (thanks Mike...i already knew that!) Well i took off to the shirt place and asked them if i could borrow 3 shirts...i folded them...rolled them...STUFFED them into the little envelope and i was able to some how get them in there...then i asked if i could borrow a hoodie so i can try that...NOW THAT ONE WAS A BUGGER TO GET IN!!!...but i got it to work and made the envelope look like a FOOTBALL!

So i felt better about that...

Well after i got the orders in..i went ahead and started going threw my paypal so i could get it all squared away "BIG HEADACHE" made a list...i checked it not twice but FOUR times...(which i still got Shawns order wrong sorry again Shawn) Made the list and submitted it to the Julian...and i told Julian...MAKE SURE THEY PRINT THEM THE WAY I WANT THEM!!! He said..."Ok Ernie...i will make sure" I called him 4 times to find out about the shirts and each time was the same story...the shirts have not arrived yet...they were waiting on a 4XL that needed to be specialed ordered...i said ok no prob...

Monday comes and goes...no call...Tuesday comes and goes...no call...so i called them after work to find out how it was going...they said they did all the shirts and hoodies except for the 4XL which was suppose to be there that evening...and i should have the shirts on Wed. I WAS STOKED!!!

I start creating all the labels needed for the envelopes and made sure they were right...i took all the addresses off of PayPal and copied and pasted them to the label sticker...also added what was ordered on the bottom right hand corner, which should make things easier for me to stuff the shirts/hoodies...i printed the envelopes labels and stuck them on the Priority envelopes...we are READY!

i go to the shirt place and it was cold and raining that day...i get down out of my car and DRINCH my shoes in th ebig puddle of water by the street...i go into the place and there they were in two HUGE boxes...I looked for Julian and he said "Hey Ernie...here they are" as he points to the boxes...i asked him "Is it ok if we go threw them one by one please..." He said sure...Well he opened the first box and i was like AW CRAP!...you guys didn't print these how i wanted them!...he looked at them and had that look like a deer caught in the headlights!

Here is the thing...i wanted these shirts to be printed with a DOUBLE PRESS of RED to make the GLOW around the RTB nice and bright...and they DIDN'T do it...i was standing in front of 73 shirts that had not been run that way except for the XXXLs and some of the XXLs were...so i was like...Julian, i am SO SCREWED bro!...he said why ernie...i said because now if someone who ordered one of those XXXLs ordered other shirts are going to see the difference on them...he said i know what u mean now...Well by this time Chuy comes around and says to me "MAN ERNIE...you did an awesome design on those shirts! Are you happy?" I said Chuy...they messed up the order..." He asked "HOW?" and i explaind to him abotu the double pass on the red and by this time...the screen printing guy walks in and he gets CHEWED OUT by Chuy...this kid didn't know what hit him and WHY he was in trouble...I told Julian..."Bro i didn't come here to get someone in trouble man"...he said "i know ernie." So i told Chuy...don't worry about it Chuy/..let me get my puter and see who ordered what and i think i can get it straightened out...well i had to BACK outside and drinch my shoes again in the rain and get my puter down...looked up some of the orders and figured it out...Chuy comes around and says "Well?" I said i think i got it figured out Chuy...

again...NEVER ASK>>>WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG!

We then get to the hooides...BINGO! ALL OF THEM DONE ON A DOUBLE PASS RED!!!...i said NOW I AM SCREWED MAN!...people who ordered hoodies oreded shirts too! how am i going to explain that!...Chuy walks over and says to me..."What now Ernie?" and here is the stinger....i told him well Chuy...turns out that did the hooides right and the shirts wrong...so Chuy says (get this)...."DONT WORRY ABOUT IT ERNIE" I look at him and say "Huh?" He said...DONT WORRY ABOUT IT!!!...I AM CANCELING OUT YOUR ORDER!...i was like...YOUR KIDDING ME!?!?! ...he said NO, I WILL JUST TAKE THE LOSS ON ALL THESE SHIRTS AND THROW THEM AWAY...YOU CAN GET THE "F" OUT OF HERE NOW!...My mouth DROPPED!!! I told him...Chuy...i have NEVER done anything wrong to you brother...why would you go off on me like this? and he walked off...julian is standing there with his head hung low and didn't know what to say...i told Julian.."Brother i CAN'T DO THAT!...i CAN'T leave these shirts here...they are ALL PRE-PAID and a lot of people are counting on me to send them out to them!...if they were NOT pre-paid..i would of told Chuy FINE and walk out of here with no problem...and how can Chuy treat someone like this who is going to drop over $1000 on him????...again Julian didn't know what to say...i said you know what...pack all the shirts and hoodies and give me the stupid invoice...I AM OUT OF HERE!!!...i paid for the shirts and hoodies and Julian walked out with me to load the shirts and said "Ernie i am so sorry man..." I said...Julian..its not your fault man...your uncle should have better respect than that to his comstumers/friends...he said..Ernie he is like that when he gets in his moods...he doesn't care how much he loses if he does. I told him it was BS and people STILL SHOULDNT be treated like that!...Julian apologized to me about 20 times...i shook his hand and told him he was still cool in my book.

I go home and try and explain all that had happended with the wife...she got upset to say the least! We started packing all the shirts around 8...and didn't get finished till around 1 in the morning...(and we needed to be up for work at 5...lol)

    Thursday...
I go to work half asleep and i told my co-worker that we needed to go to my house in lunch time to pick up the shirts and hoodies to send them out...he said Ok..as long as your paying lunch! (stinkin co-workers cant do anything for FREE!!!)

We get to the post office with 2 HUGE boxes full of football envelopes and people there were looking at us like "AH CRAP THESE GUYS ARE GOING TO TAKE FOREVER TO PROCESS THIS OUT AND I AM GOING TO BE STUCK IN LINE BEHIND HIM FOR HOURS!!!" Well turns out that i had buy the priority stickers and put them on myself...so we did...handed them to the clerk and said bye bye to my headaches!

Now its just a waiting game for everyone to get their packages...
