• She was serious!

I needed to get her out to clean her enclosure and she didn't want to come out. I won in the end though...or did I?

It happens from time to time. She didn't lose any teeth but my wrist is pretty bruised and swollen. I sure hate getting tagged by the biggins.

        No means no!

The nippy babies are cute. The adults, not so much.

OW!!!! I literally feel you pain--my 6' female BCI mistook my hand for a rat (so easy to do) and hung on like a little Pit Bull until I stuck my arm and snake under cold running water in the bathtub...amazing bleeding, plus I was surprised at the amount of bruising...they hit hard when they mean it...maybe next time roll her up in a towel first...or just let her sit in a dirty cage for a couple more days... I like the way all the hair on your arm is standing straight up immediately after the bite, but is lying back down once you cleaned up and some time had passed...

Ouch! Occupational hazard...too bad you couldn't come to a more amicable agreement...one without blood loss. I find that it helps to slow down, not rush the ones that protest.

Yikes!!!! On the Suri's side, she was just shipped. zamora wouldn't of gotten her out right now if it weren't for a cage cleaning, I am sure of it. Adult snakes need even longer to acclimate then younger snakes. The only time Alex ever had an issue with her was the day he brought her home from my house. She came out of the bag striking. When he brought her back to me, she was very well behaved. Even Alex commented on how well she was acting. Then shortly thereafter, I got her out and she struck at me but missed. Then was fine. She struck at Chris one time also but missed. Other than that, I learned her behavior. Somedays she was just off and those days I left her alone. Other days she was curious and those were handling days. Zamora hasn't had her long enough though for that and I am sure, the shipping and new environment is still stressing her out.

                        Re: She was serious!

Star is right, I haven't had her long enough for us to 'get acquainted'. If she hadn't made such a mess, I would not have removed her for cleaning and just cleaned around her. It's really not that big of a deal, it happens sometimes. I don't hold it against her and actually once she was out of the Boaphile, she relaxed and was just fine. I still love her and plan on getting her out occasionally although I think I'll use Star's 'pillowcase method' with her since that is what she is used to.
