Do you ever just get so overwhelmed at looking at many beautiful creatures. You just want them all! So I have been talking about many different snakes and just wondering why don't we see some of different snakes at shows. Why does the marketing put people on the same page to where almost every breeder has the same thing. I mean haven't you ever wanted to try a different mix with your collection and bring something new & different to the market. Everyone pretty much have to same thing just different pricing. Exmaple: in my collection I was planning on putting a CRB with a BRB, and a Jungle carpet python with a jaguar carpet python. I have many more pairs that I want to do, seeing that I mainly have males in my collection of 13 (pythons& boas). I mean, do you as an individual breeder go with the flow of the market or do you kind of explore it a little bit and bring something new. In my opinion the pink argentine & the Angolan python are beautiful. But there is so much out there, but I feel people don't take the change because they feel the species wouldn't sale on the market. Would new ideas work, would new projects work. We can visit reptile websites to find different species, why not add them with the market. What's your input on this?

Re: Marketing improvement. ..
I am not at all a fan of crossing snakes...just because many are so stressed in the wild and I think that what "survival of the fittest" has come up with is what we should be supporting in captivity, in case?
But I agree that we crave diversity, which is why I have things like Korean rat snakes. Shows and the breeders who supply snakes are mostly responding to what is popular, just like with the 'flood' of ball pythons.
Once they've invested in a breeding collection, it takes time...and unfortunately new trends can take off overnight with the way everyone shares pictures now...everyone wants the "new thing".
I sure wish more people were working with the less common species. Things like viper boas, for one thing. Years ago I bred some pretty little glossy snakes...they're difficult to get going but make really nice (small) pets.

Thanks for the input & you are absolutely right. I guess my zoology classes are kind of having me thinking outside the box a bit. But I guess it's just and idea to me and I know any people may disagree but all input is greatly appreciated. I guess I just want to know how some people think...sigpicJrock23
