Hello everyone, I'm Wesley from north MS! I HAD a beautiful 21" red tail, Peter Nincompoop, that I got as a christmas present from my gf, I had always wanted one so she got me one! I had snakes in the past and have a nuisance animal business on the side so I have experience handling them. I researched everything and had his aquarium fixed just right, 88-92 degree basking side and a 78-85 degree cool side, water bowl, fresh substrate, the whole nine yards! First feeding he vomited it back up 2 days later, I figured the mouse was too big so I got a smaller one and tried again a week later and the same thing happened. Waited another week and gave him a pinky and it went through like it was suppost to. Kept clicking along with a pinky every 4-5 days for a couple weeks, was going to go up to fuzzies on fri.......got him out for feeding last night and he was dead! Just out of the blue!! I was devastated!! I thought I had done everything down to the letter how it was suppost to, so I got online today trying to look up what might have happened and I stumbled across this site, hope to have him replaced with another red tail within the week, and I look forward to hearing from all of you, have a nice day!!

Re: Hello from MS!!!
Hello and welcome to RTB. What part of MS are you from? I'm on the Gulf Coast.
That is a very comprehensive guide to any questions you have about boa husbandry. Please take a little time to read through it before getting another boa. Generally speaking, if your boa regurgitates it is best to wait at least two weeks before trying to feed it again. Regurges take a huge toll on snakes and you should wait until the gut flora is replenished. Always back off the size of the prey also.
