  • Looking for a mate...

I have a Northern Pine that I'd like to breed in a couple of years. I need to find him a gal, though. He has a good deal of red showing up in him, so I'd like something that would perhaps compliment that.

I've considered an Everglades Rat, Tangerine Honduran Milk Snake, Blood Corn, & Pueblan Milk Snake.

I've pretty much decided against any milksnakes `cuz they're so bad about musking you. I'm really leaning towards the Everglades Rat due to their awesome "glowing" coloration as adults.

Anyone have any tips, comments, etc. on this? I'm also quite open to suggestions of other possible candidates.

    Mail-order snakebride wanted. ;D

can you breed him with a double het corn snake... That would be cool and you would have some really nice look'in and acting babys... Infact if you bred a pine with a motly corn snake I would want one.... That would be great... Or a lecustic texas rat
Well there is my opion for what it is worth...

      Re: Looking for a mate...

Thanks for the thoughts Red. I found his gal this Saturday at a local pet shop. it's actually about the only one around I'll buy anything but food from. I got a gorgeous little, itty-bitty Everglades Rat. I've never seen one this small as tame as her. She'll already let me pick her up & go about the house w/out concern of her throttling out of my hand or anything. She's not once even nipped at me & doesn't seem to be too scared. I'm just having some probs getting her to eat. Any suggestions?

          Re: Looking for a mate...

I initially put her in her rubbermaid around 4PM & let her be 'till about 4 the next morning when I left for work. I'm thinking that since she's more of a daytime gal, I should try feeding her during the day (earlier than 4). I'm giving her newborn pinky mice. Well, trying to anyway. :-/

This is really odd for me since my last Everglades Rat would eat whilest hanging from my hand, day or night.

I think this one's actually only about 3 weeks old, 4 at the most.

I have read that when trying to feed a snake for the first time that you put them in a container that is real small so that can not miss the food... I a-sume that you are trying frozed/t Then try live... this what some need to get that jump start.... Well good luck...
