  • Trying out my new flash...

OK, so these are a little washed out, but I think I know what to do next time. My wife got me a new variable output flash and I am doing my best to figure it out. Still, I wanted to share the pics with y'all!
Wonder why they call these guys "fire"... He's actually more red than these look. I need to dial down the power a tad on the flash I think. This is my '08 male from Naptown Reptiles:

This one came out a touch dark. She is my '09 Abbott's Okeetee "Belle":

This is my '09 ******el female "Ophelia" from KJUN (also a bit washed out):

Re: Trying out my new flash...

hey eddie. . .nice job . . .what kind of camera and flash are you using. . .i might be able to give you some pointers. . .the best way to use flash is to bounce it. . .if its adjustable and can pivot, you should angle it up to a ceiling or to the side off a wall. . .then the light from the flash gets diffused and is not as harsh. . .otherwise, looking good. . .thanks for sharing. . .

Re: Trying out my new flash...

Thanks everyone! Mike, that was bounced. My old cheap flash had swivel and I used to bounce the light over my shoulder. This one tilts, but does not swivel. My camera is a Pentax K10D and the new flash is a Vivitar 285HV. I have figured some more out since this shooting, but I am sure up for some pointers. Thanks!
