Re: Racer, not ratsnake, but cool photo!
I know what you mean....And I never realized that even rosy boas (normally so placid) would musk so "effectively" until I had to probe a bunch of neonates...OMG! (I'll take musk from a rat snake ANY day!)

Re: Racer, not ratsnake, but cool photo!
I remember catching snakes at my friends house but I gave up after I got "musked" more than a few times. The smell is too much for me.Leave a comment:

Oh no. He's definitely thinking: "Who is this crazy woman and why is she crawling on her belly? Humans are weird."Leave a comment:

We see them all the time on our property. This is one that I saw recently. Yes, I crawled on my belly up to him to get this shot.

I remember seeing a few racers (when I was a kid) but they fled rapidly, & in those days I was into catching frogs & toads. It took me a while to develop better taste...Leave a comment:

I never even seen a racer but caught a lot of bull snake. We had this spot we called the snake pit, it would almost always produce a bull snake. ThanksLeave a comment:

The weaving through the fence does make for a cool pic.
I loved Racers when I was a kid. I would catch babies all day long under every railroad tie along any fence I would come across.Leave a comment:
