  • New Blood

Literally! This 'guy' is a rescue, 'he' is extremely underweight but not snappy or mean so far. 'He' is in QT and will be fed and monitored closely to hopefully get back to a good weight soon. He was picked up in North MS near Mississippi State University by Animal Control and due to my 'adopted daughter', Ashley, he's now in my care. No idea on the sex, he/she has a long road back to health.

Picked up by AC? Like a neglect case or snake on the loose? Hopefully he'll have the typical blood feeding response, won't take too long to get him fattened back up. Nice looking one too.

        Re: New Blood

'He' was found roaming a neighborhood by Mississippi State. Someone stumbled across him and decided he didn't look native, so they called AC. No idea whether he was an "accidental release" or not. After waiting a week for anyone to come forward and claim him, I drove him down to his new home yesterday! Can't wait to see what he looks like once he puts some weight on.

It is good that he was found. Before I looked into boas, a blood python was a the top of my list for a larger snake than my ball pythons.

          Best of luck to him

Glad he/she has a good home now! She/he's got some nice color, I'm sure it will look even better once it puts some weight on.

Good job he's not in terrible shape, also I attached a pic of a chart that shows healthy weight for a blood python.Blood and short tailed pythons are really cool to keep good luck.

Thanks for the chart @jere000. According to that chart, he's not quite emaciated but pretty darn close. It's really hard to see in pictures but in person...pretty bad. I have a morsel thawing right now.

That's a shame, glad he found his way to someone that will take proper care of him.

Hope things go smoothly and he gets back to health in no time.

Well, I knew they had a strong feeding response but GEEZ! I don't think lightning is that fast. Scary stuff but at least he has a meal in him now, hopefully it stays down.

They are pretty fast when they want to be. Did you grab a weight on him at all? These guys pack on the size fast, it's amazing.
