8) Heres some links for ya Red.. They are easy to care for. Mine i keep in a moist woodland type cage and they have small rotted log for climbing and hidding, they chew on it also, i have a flat jar lid that i use for there feed dish.. There temp is at 78 right now, i have moss in there and some rotted leafs.. I mist there cage every day lightly. You can use a tiny water dish that isnt deep so they dont drown...I feed them a big variety of fruits veggies and they also get leaf lettuce, i sprinkle vitamin calcium powder over there food 3 times a week.. you can handle them just make sure you was your hands after you do.. Most of them will curl up when you pick them up but once you sit still for few mins they open up and start crawling around...Try not to squeez then when you pic them up.... hope these links help..
Heres one thats got lots links to good millie info..

Re:Giant African Black Millipedes..
LOL, i remember when i was like 10 i went to lake george in NY and i was in the woods exploring and i heard a weird noise on the leaves, it was one of those big millipedes, i dunno if it was someones pet that got out or what, i brought it home and kept it in a little container but my friend decided to pick it up and he dropped it by accident and it died lol.

Cool Cuda i would like to see that list. Quick question? Why do you keep stressing the wash your hands do these guys give off some excretions when you hold them, are they mildly poisionis, do they cary some disease? I always wash hands after handling pets but, I noticed you've said that two or three times during this thread...

Re:Giant African Black Millipedes..
8) thats cool Zack, i didnt think we had any here in Mich. till me and the kids found some out back few yrs in a row.. Jayson they do give off a secretion that can burn and also you never want to get it in your mouth or eyes or nose.. Most of them get use to being handled and will only put out the secretions if harassed.. Mine havent done that yet as they are soooo stinkin mellow and will open right up now after few secs in your hand.... just wash like i said after handling just in case... There secretions are there only deffence against preditors..its wierd to hold one so you can see its under side with all those legs moving... LOL!!! I highly recomend millies as a easy care and first time pet...

Re:Giant African Black Millipedes..
8)NP Jayson gona work on that list today for yaz of millies.. Dont let the secretions thing scare you from ever getting one.. No specail lighting or heating requierd for them and very easy to care for they are neat little critters.. They only need a cage with humidity which all ya gota do is mist them every so often and around 78 to 82 temps.. no specail lighting requierd.. easy feeding fruits and veggies and some calcium powder on there food.. a rotted log and some peatmoss mix bedding your good to go.. cage size can be a simple large critter keeper.. I love um im looking to get some Flame millies which are flame red...way cool..... ;D
