    8) Well Red because i go thru so many at a time i order 2000 or more at a time and then they last me awhile .. If your only feeding say one or two T's then all ya gota do is get them from a pet shop or a bait dealer as you will only need about a dozen a week.. As for wantting to get a good supply you will need to house them properly so they will last..I think most crix companies only go as low as 250 or 500 for crix.. But you can check around for the best prices and deals.. here are few places you can check....

I get all mine from the local pet shop. I know that at petco they are only like 8 cents a piece with a pals card and you can buy as little as 1 and as many as 500, it's totally up to you and it's really cheap!!! ;D

Well I will ether have to get more T's or lizards or go to the pet store every week... I hate going to the pet store... You said a half sized cricket will be good for my 2" spiderling.. May-be the grange will have crickets.. What if all I can get are full grown ones... can I just freeze them and feed it to them that way.. I have herd of this in my reading... I am not really worred about the price... I would pay for all 500 a week if I needed too... I just don't want to have to let them go because of them getting to big for my lil' tiny spider... Not to mention the noise... lol

I know petco has large and small crix. And trust me the small are very small!! Honestly, your best bet would be to buy them fresh every week. If you freeze them, they will die and none of mine will touch them if they are dead. The only reason to freeze them, would be for a very short time and that's just to slow them down enough for you to catch a few to feed to the T.

Re: Where do you get your crix???

              8) Ok Red what ever ya do dont get any crix from your garage as there could be chemicals on them.. Now since you would be getting a baby that 2 inches or under or over that size try going with 3/4 of an inch as crix will only reach 1 inch.. so say if ya go to a pet shop tell then ya want half grown crix or if they have only adult then get those and rip few legs of the crix when feeding that will help.. most T's can take prey larger than them selfs, youd be surprised at what they can eat.. so say when you first get your T home give it time to adjust for few and check out its new home. Then toss one crix in close to the T and wait and see if it gets it and eats it. If she or he does wait till its done see if the rump is nice and plump, try one more crix the same way..More than likey it will be very hungry when ya get it.. just give it few hrs to adjust to the new house befour feeding.. At that size T's will eat alot as they are growing.. You can feed it up to 3 crix one at a time and then wait a day or two and feed again.. its best to give a break for a day or two inbetween feedings..As it molts and grows you can up the crix and spread your feeding days apart more but i would never go more than 3 days inbetween feedings...If it dont eat the crix within few hrs then take the crix out as it could be going into premolt or getting ready to molt, you dont want crix in the cage when it molts... heres the way i care for my crix...

Ok this is how i keep my crickets.. i use a 29 gal long tank with screen lid, for bedding i use papper towel on the bottom then i put a nice layer of western fir potting bark by Shultz, i use  the grey egg cartons for them to crawl on, and some toilet paper tubes, i also keep a small container of peatmoss mix with potting soil un fertalized kind lightly moistend so they can lay there eggs in it, as for food thats right chicken laying mash is the best to use and i also use crushed- powderd dry dog food and crushed cereal,  flake gold fish food, dry oatmeal and also slatine crackers, for water i use ornage slices and soaked potatoes slices plus i have a small jar lid with water in it.. they get veggies and fruits, leaf lettuce and i only give them more of that when they have eatting it all or if it goes bad.  Make sure to change all bedding and egg cartons once every few days. I have no probs with this set up at all.. and have raised lots and lots of crickets.. is alot easier to do this then to buy them all the time.. raising the babies is very easy to do.. and they grow at a real fast rate, in few weeks you can have almost adult crix..   P.S. dealers and breeders of T's messure there size of the T by the tip of the front leg across the body to the tip of the back leg when the T is streched out and not when its legs are more bent on a angle thats how they get there size on a T....

So are you saying that if I just got another critter carryer I could just breed them...? Would I get too many???? You breed for alot of pets. Do you think it is practical to breed the lil' suckers for just one T... Or should I get more T's... lol

Re: Where do you get your crix???

It depends on the crickets. If they live for two weeks in the can, then buy for two weeks. If they all die, buy some more. I usually buy a dozen every week for my two T's but they are much larger, each about the size of my hand.
