  • Somebody help me solve the mystery of the eggs!

So, my wife's co-worker found these eggs while working in his garden. He didn't know what they are, but thought I might. He was wrong. I think they might be blue belly eggs. One is clearly dead, but the other seems viable. I candled the good one and it has veins and a clearly visible embryo.

    Any ideas?

    Size reference. That's a quarter.

I'm gonna try and see if the good one will hatch. It may be that I won't know what I've got until then!

So cool. My first guess would be a bird of some kind but they look softer like a reptile. Might be a snake of some sort, honestly I have no idea but it sure would be cool to hatch it out and try to raise it up.

I'm afraid I can't help you out Sean but good luck. Maybe Dr Matlock could shed some light on this one?

They're defiantly soft, so I'm sure they're reptile, but they're so small.

I'm at least going to try and get it to hatch. If it is a blue belly, I'll give it a few meals before turning it loose. I have a ton of them in my yard, so it's not like I'd be releasing it into a foreign environment.
