Mom, without all the babies on her back

    Baby stingbutt setup

You can barely see the baby where the red arrow is pointing to...to give you an idea of size, the pot is 1 1/2" at its widest diameter... the other 30 or so are hidden further inside the pots

Very nice Bry. I forgot what kind of scorp was that. Yeah, I wish we could see the babies a little better. You'll have to try to get some better pix of them. Are they cute when they are that small?

        Re:New pics of scorps

These are Paruroctonus boreus, and I believe the common name is Northern scorpion. They have the northernmost range of all North American species, their range extends from northern Mexico to southern Canada. As far as their cuteness, I think they are. It's funny to watch them learn how to kill their prey, but they are learning fast. Mom knows to hold her stinger in the cricket for a while to pump more venom. On the other hand, the babies will do several rapid stabs to kill their crickets. But, like I said, they've already learned to leave the stinger in the cricket for a little while. They were terrified of crickets at the first meal, as they were doing more running from the crickets than grabbing them. But, now they are fearless and don't waste any time grabbing a cricket. Some of the smaller ones are still learning that the cricket isn't out to eat them.
