I guess I didn't waste much time getting a new T. I picked up a nice 4.5" female Brachypelma albopilosum, which translates to Honduran Curlyhair tarantula. She's a very cool, mellow spider. I didn't plan on buying a T this big, so the cage I had prepared is a bit small for her. Gotta move her up to something larger. She's in a small kritter keeper. Should I put her in a medium or large? Or maybe I should just super-size it with fries and a Coke to go. :P

Goog luck well I have found those to be hard to find and expensive... Well I have a G. pulchra he/she is great lil' guy... I am going to be buying ether a pink toe or a rose hair this week end... (Well my week end.. Tue. Wed.)
Gotta get red of those big chrickets... hehe... got to lov' when you have an excuse...

Red, where do you live? Curlyhairs are probably the most common T that I've seen. Next to the rosehair and the pinktoe. Plus they are about the same price as both of them are. I'm probably going to be getting one soon, myself.

Devin, good to see ya around here. Mexican Redknees are really cool. Like Red said, they're somewhat hard to find due to popularity, expect to pay anywhere from $40-60 for even a 2-3" baby. If you can find one, go for it. Brazilian blacks (Grammastola pulchra) are awesome, fetch about the same price as redknees, and are a bit harder to find than redknees. Rosehairs are cool, but their temperament seems to vary between extremely docile and aggressive, depending on individuals. Go with a curlyhair, they're affordable, easy to find, and have great temperaments. They are real pigs too.

That reminds me, Barracuda. I just read that Brazilian blacks tend to go on fasts for several months. Is this true? Did you have this problem with yours?

Nice Choice Bry, T's are very addicting! I have only 22!
I got my Mexican Red Knee (Brachypelma smithi) is 1"+
I got it for $35, they can be expensive, you can get 1/4" for $22! Anyways Good Luck with the New T!

8) Hey Bry i didnt have no probs with my female Brazilian Black eatting.. if it goes on a hunger binge, then just try from time to time to get it to eat,, i have never herd them doing that other than molting. rosehairs are really none for going on hunger strikes for long periods.. :-/

Yeah, my rosehair use to go on hunger strikes all the time. Would go for weeks and not eat, then the next time I put crickets in the cage she would gobble them all up in no time flat!! Barracuda, I have a question. How often do you feed your T's pinky mice? The reason I ask is, a couple weeks ago I fed my rosehair a pinky, just to see if she'd eat it. It took her a bit, but as soon as she found out that it was there and free for the taking, she lundged at it!!! Well, now ever since she ate that pinky, she's been really mean!! She use to just crawl up on my hand when I reached in the cage and love to be held. Now when I reach in, she arches back like she's going to attack. She's also digging herself in her cave and covering the doorway up. Also the other day when I reached in and tried to pick her up, she actually bit me!!! She didn't even break the skin, but I felt those fangs of hers!! Is it because of the pinky? Or is she just going through PMS?

8)Evil, it dont have anything to do with the pinkie.. Rose hairs are that way nice for awhile then mean.. thats why i dont care for them.. As far as the pinkie goes one a week then crix inbetween.. If she will take it.. Sorry to here shes PMS'in but thats a rose hair for yaz...LOL!!! Man i cant wait to go pic up my suntiger in few weeks... Got my new babies home all ready to go...

And I live in ashland, OR... There is not a T for 200 miles that is not a rose hair or a pink toe... That is all the stores sell...
There is a guy I know with a star burst baboon T but it is in his personal collection for sale though... Not a store...
I have to order what ever I want to buy... I can't even buy a uth around here... No reo-stats or even plexi cages... nothing but critter containers and glass aquiamss....

Do you have any place that has a reptile swap that you can go hang out at and check on all the diffrent critters they have for sale?? It would have to be close and right at the perfect time... I work 7 day's a week and 5 days I work two jobs... I would lov' to go to one... I herd of one in salem not that far from here....
