    Re:now I want another one

You started out with a Haplopelma?! How's that for jumping in headfirst? Well, you've already had a taste of what the aggressive species are like. I would suggest maybe trying a less defensive species. Brazilian blacks (Grammastola pulchra) are an excellent species to work with. There are also Pink Zebra Beauties (Eupalaestrus campestratus), Curly Hairs (Brachypelma albopilosum), and Chilean Rose (Grammastola rosea), although temperament is variable in this species. Most of the Brachypelma and Aphonopelma species are good choices as well. You may also enjoy working with Guyana Pinktoes (Avicularia avicularia) as these are an arboreal species. All the species above are known to be rather docile, and there are a few others I haven't mentioned. If you don't mind fast and skittish (and very colorful) species, Greenbottle Blues (Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens) seem to be a very interesting species to work with. Although, I don't see why you would mind fast and skittish after working with a Haplo. Just keep in mind, all the species above are New World species, and they're capable of kicking urticating hairs which can be somewhat irritating.

8)Great post Bry i agree with yaz on that, there also Chaco Golden knees, Texas Tans, (Rio Grand Gold even though they can be skittsh sometimes they are handable), Mexican flame knee and Antilies Pink Toe very beutiful T and handable as well but they are very fast... If your looking for a T that you can have just as a pet without handling there are soooooooo many that are very colorful and awsome looking, but no handling what so ever.. What are you looking for color? size?? Let us know.. 8)

          Re:now I want another one

          8) when you say next show where abouts are you talking?? If you want a T that moves around alot you looking for a handable one or non handable, almost all Ts go thru a sitting still satge for days on end then when its feeding time the get on the move or late at night they are always out and about.. If you would like to see your T active try a tiny black light over the cage and have that on at night then youl be able to see it out on the prowl... You can also try a arboreal species, most get good size and they do alot of webbing and are usualy out and about climbing alot..

I always go to the columbus reptile show.yea I have a black light for my zebra really cool to watch. I am not really looking afor one to handle so aggrestion is not a problem for me. I was just looking for one that maybe moved around a bit more then the one I have.

Deuce, I had figured that since you started out with a Haplo, you might like something more handleable. But, if you want a large, fairly active species that stays out in the open a lot of the time, a Brazilian Salmon Pink Birdeater (Lasiodora parahybana) would be a good choice. They get about as big as a Goliath Birdeater (Theraphosa blondi). Goliath Birdeaters are more drab and ugly, a lot more secretive (you rarely ever see them), and they have some of the worst urticating hairs of all the T's. Both species are somewhat defensive, so they're not handleable either. The Salmon Pinks are also quite a bit cheaper than T. blondis. On different price lists, I only see adult (or near adult) and tiny spiderlings for sale, but nothing in between. You could always pick a spiderling, as they are very fast growers and don't stay small for very long.

                Re:now I want another one

Would a 5.5 gallon be large enough for a Brazilian Salmon Pink Birdeater or a Goliath Birdeater

                  Re:now I want another one

8)Yup that tank will do fine for a salmon pink, depends on what size ya get it at and also make sure to try and get a female as i had a male once and he was full grown in less than 7 months and then only lived for 2 months after that.. Females take alittle longer to reach full size but they do grow very fast and big... Once shes full size you will want to put her in a 10 gal tank....
