Well Cam....I can tell you this much....it is looking good at the moment...I'll keep you updated....will also try and post some pics when I open the eggsac.
*smile* A tarantula sound like such a neat pet! I'm kind of turned off by some of the more unorthodx pets, though. When I was young I had a friend who was realy into snakes. Once she wrapped a snake she had "found" on the road around my neck, and laughed as it twisted and hissed around my neck! Ever since then I've been uneasy around non mammal pets. But I really like the tarantulas I've seen at pet shops, so I might find some courage and *consider* buying one :cwm7:

Hey Shelby, welcome aboard, i understand where your commin from about things that happen with a critter and then ya get turned off by them, but try not to let one persons stupidity ruin what a snake or any other animal can do by bringing joy and happiness into your life.. I think its great that you are considering getting a tarantula, they make intresting and enjoyable pets... Not all are handable but just having them around and being able to study, watch and care for them is a real pleasure.... Let us know if ya get one...
Cam, i think thats awsome you are thinking about getting one, way to go bud, Cassie says go for it!!!!!
i just got a new rosehair this weekend at a herp show in manchester she is sooo calm im carful with her and my parents dont know but im glad i got her and would recomend anyone even with a fear to try and hold one it isnt what you think it is amazing.
Hello,
It's been forever since I've visited this site. I just got a rose hair tarantula last weekend and she is SOOOOOOOO cool! I love her already and she is almost tied with my red tail boa, as far as my favorite pets. My new tarantula is so easy to care for. I've had chameleons and I've had a couple different kinds of gecko's, and all were pretty high maintenance, especially the chams. But the T, not much feeding or cleaning up. Only thing is, even though she looks beautiful and I want to hold her, Im scared. But I eventually got the courage to pick her up and hold her. She was very calm and seemed a bit shy. She eventually warmed up to me and layed herself down on my chest. Do these kinds of T's bite hard? Do you think she would draw blood? I'm not sure how to measure them, but her longest leg is about 4 inches long. I don't pet her or anything, but what kinds of things would aggrivate her enough to bite?
I just lost my Rose Hair. I suppose they will bite, but if frightened and able to flee I think they will filck urticating hairs from their rumps. I hear their bite (3/4 in. fangs) feels like two ice picks slamming into your flesh ... or worse, marriage! I like to visit www.southernspiderworks.com. I'm glad this came up again, I'm giving it more thought now.
I just got my first T as well, a rose hair. Just got it last sunday, so I'm letter her settle into her enclosure. Can't wait to handle her. T's are as addicting as boas. Now I want a mexican red knee, mexican fireleg, costa rican zebra, and a chaco golden knee. Now that it is almost spring time here in Texas I want to go out and find some native T's as well. I'll try to post some pics once I get some.
