I dont have any iggy's but I do have a nice
redtail i got from Clay. Anywho my neighbor just had sombody give them a iggy. I dont know how old or if it is a he or a she.It is about 16" long body and tail. I was hopeing that someone could give me some info on how to take care of these guys ie.
what do they eat, what are the temp's. Also this thing is mean. I think that they are a little scared of it and don't handle it at all.
I was wondering if you spent a little time with it each day would it loosen up? Lori I trird to go to the links you had piosted for the cages and was un able to open them. if there are any more www. sites that would help pleases let me know. Thanks a million in advance for your help.

    Re: iggy info

Here's my main page on the Igs http://www.koalaskritters.net/iguana.html Just the basic info like why not to get an ig etc is on there. hehe
As for the diet.. basically they should be fed a very strict diet in order to remain healthy. They are herbivores [ they will eat anything, but for health reasons they should not though. Animal protein can lead to renal failure and ultimately kill them. So no matter how much anyone says to you that they just love to eat crickets.. it's a NO-NO !] Basics of the diet are dark greens btw. Here's one of the other sites threads for someone new to an IGGY.. http://www.redtailboa.net/modules.ph...pic=6833&5

I still haven't finished my iG pages at all on my site. I need to get to those soon though.
I am not feeling great today or I'd give ya more info even atm. I'll try and hit this thread a bit more tomm even possibly. Going tolie down atm.

      Re: iggy info

Hey Lori, I have a question about cages.
My friend has his iggy in a 10 gal. glass tank. Now I know that is way to small. I am going to build her (the iggy) a cage, and was wondering if I were to build one that is 4' long x 2' high x 2' deep would that be a big enough cage? Also I was unable to log on to the links that you provied. Although I did find a few sites with info. If you know of any site were I might be able to find ides about cages please let me know. I would hate to see this little girl die.

The size of the cage depends on the iggy... a full growen iggy will need some thing in the vicinity of 5'x4'x7'. But if they are small, then you can wait for them to get bigger before upgrading.
